A Great 2009!
Jesse’s Foundation for Music and Dance Therapy (JF) is a registered charity staffed solely by tireless volunteers who work to make it affordable and convenient for children with identified needs or living with a long-term illness (and their siblings) to access the proven benefits of music and dance therapy.
Music Therapy in the News:
- Expert calls music a "mega-vitamin for the brain". Once again researchers re-affirm that music is capable of influencing and improving motor function, communication and even cognition. "Music seems to find re-routed paths and that is why it is such a useful tool ...because it can help to find new pathways in terms of brain functioning"
- The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota is now using music as part of its cardiovascular surgery healing program
- Do use the "shuffle" option on your iPod. Listening repeatedly to the same tune diminishes the music's effects on the body. You need to vary the songs, so the body hears the music fresh for full benefits
Readying for 2010:
- If you know a child with identified needs who may benefit from music therapy in Brampton, Mississauga or Kitchener-Waterloo - please do contact us about Jesse's Sound Potential programs in these cities via info@jessesfoundation.com.
