Projects and Programmes
Jesse’s Foundation for Music and Dance Therapy works to subsidize the costs of existing music and dance therapy programs and to initiate new ones outside Toronto. Projects include:
- Jesse’s Sound Potential (JSP) is a subsidized music therapy program for children with identified needs and their siblings offered in home communities. Marking its 5th year in Brampton in autumn 2009 JSP launched in Mississauga as part of a pilot classroom in Tomken Road Middle School. This classroom consists of students who are in the bottom two percent of the population in terms of functioning level and are non-verbal. JSP is now enrolling in Kitchener-Waterloo. (You may email info@jessesfoundation.com)
- Jesse’s Sensory Garden™ celebrates the music and dance of nature. Located aside the Caledon Centre for Recreation & Wellness in Bolton the garden's unique design includes elements to stimulate all 5 senses with accessibility for all ages and most abilities – i.e. friendly to wheelchairs, braille signage. Future plans: an outdoor platform for music and dance therapy in the fresh air!
- Jesse’s Scissors-in-Motion. For 5 years this fundraiser brought music therapy to critically ill children by benefitingToronto's Sick Children's Hospital Foundation in support of the Music Therapy in Palliative Care Program (terminally ill children). Thank you to our sponsors and supporters.
